Sahid Sporting lifted the Satabdi Cup, defeating Sports and Cultural Association of Ashok Nagar (SCAAN) by 61 runs in the final of the Rabi Mohanty Memorial Cricket Tournament at Unit-I High School ground in Bhubaneswar today.
The champion side took home the top prize of Rs 11,111, while the runner-up team received Rs 7,777. Soumya Das became richer by Rs 2,222 after being adjudged the man of the match and the man of the tournament. Rajesh Baliarsingh and Nilakantha Panigrahi were given Rs 1,111 each as the best batsman and best bowler of the tournament respectively.
Higher Education Minister Samir Dey distributed the prizes at the closing ceremony.
Brief scores: Sahid Sporting 149/9 in 20 overs (P Jayachandra 25, Sourav Sehgal 25, Manoranjan Biswal 23: Rajesh Baliarsingh 3 wkts, Manoj Nayak 2 wkts) beat SCAAN 88/7 in 20 overs (Gopal Ballav Mansingh 23, Nilakantha Panigrahi 23: Soumya Das 3 wkts, Dibya Panda 2 wkts).
