Gagan Khoda hit an unbeaten 87 to put
Rajasthan in an advantageous position at the end of second day of
their four-day Elite Group Ranji Trophy match against Orissa at VSS
Stadium in Sambalpur on Monday.
In reply to Orissa`s first innings total of 281, Rajasthan
finished the day at 172 for two with Khoda approaching his 19 first
class century and Robin Bist giving him company on 32.
Earlier, resuming at the overnight score of 235 for six,
hosts Orissa failed to muster a 300 plus total as their remaining
four wickets fell for 46 runs.
Wicket-keeper Haladhar Das, unbeaten 43 overnight,
successfully completed his half-century with the help of five fours.
But his effort to consolidate the team`s position went in vain as he
ran out of partners.
Vivek Yadav proved to be the most successful Rajasthan
bowler, bagging four wickets for 45 runs.
The visitors got off to a sound start with experienced Khoda
and Vineet Saxena stitching together 81 runs for the opening wicket.
Rookie left-arm spinner Dhiraj Singh led Orissa`s fight back by
picking up two wickets in space of 20 runs.
But a 71-run partnership for the unfinished third wicket
between Khoda and Bist helped Rajasthan wrest the advantage. Khoda`s
unbeaten 87 came off 231 balls and included 11 hits to the rope.
